As everyone who reads my journal knows I have been on this journey to change myself and my life. This journey included Gastric Bypass Surgery. Well after months of research and finding out where to go and what to do I went through all the necessary steps to get myself approved by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)government helath insurance for those who are not from Ontario or from Canada for tha matter.
OHIP approved my application for out of country medical services fully paid for. So I have a surgeon lined up in Rochester NY who is an awsome man and surgeon and does surgery on Canadian patients on almost a daily basis. I think he has more Canadian patients as opposed to American ones.
Anyways his office sent me forms that had to be filled out and what information they needed from my physician. I filled out all the forms so she wouldnt have to, I highlighted what she needed to send him so that there would be no confusion on her part and I gave her all the documentation and instructions on Dec29th. I told her that this needed to be done ASAP. I wanted to be able to get into the surgeons seminar and consultation first week in February or I would have to wait till the end of March.
My family doctor said no problem. Well last week I followed up with her several times and after getting the run around several times I went to the office and saw her. She gave me 7 different excuses as to why she hadnt sent the info out 1)She does it on her own time at home. 2)Her computer died at home and was in the shop. 3)A family member died and they were busy, 4)Her husband has been out of town and she is left with 6 kids. 5)Her furnace died. 6)She had to go out of town AGAIN 7)Her son lost his cell phone. SO me being nice told her I undersand she is busy but that I really really need her to send my paper work as SOON as possible. I even asked if she could atleast send my medical history and then followup with the referals afterwards so that atleast the surgeon has my medical files. SHe said no problem she could do that. SHe said she would do it last weekend. Well As of this Wed she hadnt and I got the run around. I called to follow up again today and they said she had intentions of doing it today but not sure if she had and she left the office untill Tuesday.
OMG was I fuming......I still am. Since when should her problems become mine. Since when does a doctor not do what is in the best interest of their patients. I have done alot, infact I have done all of the paperwork, all of the research, all of the medical research and phone calls and letter writtings. She is MY DOCTOR and she sure as heck isnt acting like it or doing the duties a doctor is supposed to do.
Now being that I live in Ontario we are so lucky to have a doctor shortage so I am not even at liberty to change doctors. We patients are held hostage by the very people who are supposed to be making sure we get the very care we need.
Did I mention that the catscan that was ordered because of my extreme pain came back with herniated disks? Did I mention that my doctor DIDNT order that CTscan and simply thought it was a pulled muscle and just sluffed it off as such, and that it was my walk-in-clinc doctor who ordered the Catscan. Did I also mention that when the results came back my doctor just HOHUMMED the results. Where I went back to see the clinic doctor who ordered the CTscan and she was appauled that my doctor hadnt referred me to a specialist.
Feels like my doctor does as little is necesary to get her patients out of the office and bill for the visitm, without getting her hands dirty.
