HAVELOCK JAMBOREE
My Havelock Country Jamboree turned out to be a blast. We met THE INLAWS Thrusday around 1pm half way to our destination. Both THE MAN and I had never been to this event. We arrived around 3:30 but because of the massive lineup of trailers getting into the facility there was a 30 minute wait. This isn't too bad as we found out that some people waited 8 hours in line to get into the park. The police had people setting up tents on the side of the highway as there was no place for these people to go and there was no way that these people could come into the park at 11:00 or later and try to manuever their traler and vehicle around. So let me try to give you an idea of exactly what this place is.

It was bigger then I could even imagine. After being there since Thursday I only truely got an idea how big it was as we were driving out. This jamboree is in the middle of a corn field. The actual concert area is the size of about 3 football fields with all the food and merchandise vendours circling the outside of the concert area. Then you have the camping areas. Well there were well over 5000 campsites in this place there were sections of this facility I never did see. There were more then one trailor and often several tents to one site. These sites were very small. Trailers often had little room to walk in between. We heard that between the people that were camping there and the day passes there were over 100 000 people who attended this year and about 70 000 people who camped. Thats a lot of people and We never saw any disturbances.

I wish I had took a picture of the hot tub boys. They were camping beside us. They don't go for the concerts but they go for the girls. They actually bring a hot tub, pool table and such and its a 4 day party for them. They were well set up. This is amazing considering there is no running water and no electricity. Everyone runs things on gas and generators. We weren't camping far from teh concert area which was great as Friday night it poured well it poured all day on Friday so we really didn't even go down to the conert area but we were able to hear everything. Saturday was travis Tritt and although it was a little rainy during the day it managed to stop during his performance. We took little rain ponchos and still had a great time. Friday night we had deep fried chicken wings which I didn't eat any. THE INLAWS cooked 30 pounds of wings. If you think that is alot, YEP it is but it was for the entire group we were with which was about 20- 25 people. Saturday night THE INLAWS made deep fried fillet mignon. Not something I would do with a steak but it was an experiment. I had my BBQ pork souvlaki something that is much healthier.

I can not effectively describe how big or how massive this Jamboree is although I will say we have already booked our tickets and camping lot for next year. This year for the first time they had to turn people away at the gate as there was no more camping sites left. We have estimated this place at being about 1200 acres. It wouldnt surprise me if it was a lot more. Anyways here are some pics.

This was Thursday night before everyone got here and just a fraction of how big the concert area was.

This was me on Saturday we had a quick little shower in the trailer and then washed our hair from the solar water bag. It was an experience!

This was Saturday night for the SHEDAISY and Travis Tritt concert. See how many more people there are compared to Thrusday? The concert area was packed!

Some one was kind enough to take THE MAN and i's picture. Aren't we cute!

This was this morning. THE MAN and THE DAD packing things up. This is THE MAN"S father and Bill cooking the deep fried fillet mignon. What a site to see.

I have many more pictures but just couldn't get them all on here. Hope you enjoyed.
