October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Just a few things quickly. I have officially lost 69 pounds. I am amazed I lost anything this week as I have not been to aquafit, I am been fighting a terrible cold and just couldn't do the exercise. I have however maintained a healthy diet and drinking plenty of fluids as well as taking all my antibiotics.

So last entry I told people about my aunt who died and how her daughters were fundraising for breast cancer by joining THE WALK FOR A CURE and trying to get ppledges. I also mentioned that the local paper was doing a feature article on my cousin and here is the article. Todate she has raised $4885.00 and the donations as still coming in.

Breanne Sinibaldis mother, Kathy, raised $1,600 last year for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

She taught her three daughters, Breanne, 20, Hillary, 17, and Lauren, 16, to stand up for what they believe in and to work hard at all their endeavours.

Kathy, an OLGC (Ontario Lottery Gameing Corporation) marketing employee, lost her battle with cancer in July.

Now Breanne is keeping a promise to her mother that she will continue to fight for the cause.

The Sault College graphic design student set her goal about three weeks ago to match the money her mother raised last year.

As of Thursday, she has more than doubled it. And donations are still coming in strong.

Sunday, the annual CIBC Run For the Cure kicks off at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.
m. at the Bondar Pavilion.

It will be the fourth year that Breanne has participated in the run/walk to help raise money for breast cancer research.

She and her sisters, who always completed the event with their mother, will run this year in memory of Kathy, along with their father, Kerry.

Other family and friends are expected to join them.

Breannes fundraising efforts have snowballed, all from a request for support through a few simple emails to family, friends and co-workers.

An email was circulated throughout the downtown OLGC offices, explaining the goal of Breanne, now a part-time OLGC employee herself.

She achieved her goal in a matter of days so she increased her target, hoping to raise $2,000. Now, shes doubled that, and still has time to collect a little more before the event takes place.

Its been very overwhelming. I cant believe how generous everybody has been in memory of my mom, Breanne said. Everyone knew her.

The majority of the contributions have been made over the internet.

Donors need only to go to the website, www.cibcrunforthecure.com, click on support a participant and then enter Breannes name and city.

A new screen will appear. Click on donate to participant and follow the instructions to make a credit card donation.

Breanne said her mother joked with her last year that her contribution wasnt enough to win the first place prize for the largest dedicated fundraiser.

She had said, If only I could have got another couple of hundreds of dollars. So thats what I set out to do, Breanne said.

Mom would be proud of me, she smiled.

Breanne has a very personal interest in finding the cause for breast cancer.

Both her mother and grandmother suffered with breast cancer, her aunt is a breast cancer survivor and she often thinks about what the future holds for her and her sisters.

Its something that I think I should support and thats why Im doing this, she said.

Last year, international efforts raised $21 million for breast cancer research with the one-km walk or 5-km run. The event is designed as a non-competitive family event with the goal of creating a future without breast cancer.
